Sorpresa!

All my wonderful friends at work surprised me with a Italian themed Wedding/Going Away Party. I, of course, had no idea; I prefer to believe that I am occupied with terribly important assessor business or deep contemplation on the solution of some universal malady.... as opposed to just unaware of my surroundings! So when Nancy wanted to discuss her new plan for mapbook assignment in the conference room ("so we can spread out..."- yeah right!!) I wholeheartedly prepared for the meeting. Instead I was greeted with a group "Buona Fortuna!", Italian music and host of red, white and green decorations. There was great food, in keeping with the Italian theme, and alot of laughing about the success of the party caper! David Matthew, Juanita's nephew, drew a picture of the town hall in Volterra (did Auntie Juanita get those tickets to Italy yet??) It is beautiful and we are going to have it framed when we return. From this experience I have reconfirmed a few things about my friends; they are wonderfully warm, generous and giving....and can keep a secret like the mob!

By the way, I still have some well thought out, innovative plans for the mapbook reassignment....
